E-learning platform
This e-learning platform offers a comprehensive prenatal education experience across four modules: Pregnancy, Labour and Birth, Postpartum Care/Newborn Care/Transition to Parenthood, and Breast/Chest Feeding. Each module provides essential knowledge, fostering confidence and skills in users. Designed to be inclusive and user-friendly, the platform integrates interactive and rich media contents that promote engagement and understanding. The portfolio showcases a succinct architectural plan and allocation of key topics throughout the user journey.
The e-learning platform was borne out of a need to provide accessible, comprehensive prenatal education to a diverse audience. Traditional prenatal programs, although comprehensive, often lack universal accessibility and flexible schedules. Additionally, they often fail to address a broad range of cultural and gender perspectives. This prompted the need for a digital solution that could deliver high-quality educational content in an accessible and user-friendly format. Hence, this platform, encompassing every crucial stage from preconception through to postnatal care and breastfeeding, was born. This platform's flexible nature allows users to learn at their own pace, revisiting content as necessary. This makes it a powerful resource for expectant parents and their support networks.
The platform primarily targets expectant parents who seek comprehensive, accessible, and user-friendly prenatal education. It also caters to their support networks including family members, partners, and friends involved in the parenting journey. The content is relevant to diverse audiences, including those of different cultural backgrounds and gender identities. Furthermore, healthcare providers such as midwives, obstetricians, and pediatricians could use this platform as a resource to complement their care offering, patient education, and enhance patient engagement.
How can we design a comprehensive and accessible prenatal education platform that enables expectant parents, regardless of their stage of pregnancy—early, mid, or late—to find the information they want easily, learn at their own pace, and feel more prepared for their parenting journey?
How can we create an informative and user-friendly platform that empowers the support network of expectant parents, allowing them to gather reliable and relatable knowledge across various themes to assist effectively during pregnancy and the transition into parenthood stages?
How can we develop a flexible educational tool laden with topical resources that healthcare providers can use for patient education? This tool would enable them to communicate effectively about multiple themes and stages of pregnancy and thereby enrich patient engagement.
With the initial UX research and planning complete, we created a site map to outline the essential pages for the MVP. Then, we outlined the user flows (and various task flows within) to see the UX flow from a bird's eye view.
When establishing our initial concept, we sought to utilize neutral colors and idyllic, soft, and comforting illustrative characters that would assist in delivering prenatal and infant education information. We crafted three major concepts, and below is a description of the branding for each of these mocks: a, b, and c.
Although a shift in the project's direction meant we did not use the initially designed concepts, the extensive planning, research, and design phase significantly contributed to our understanding of creating an e-learning platform for prenatal education. Despite the changes, the groundwork performed paved the way for effective development, acting as a substantial stepping stone for the final product.
